Karen Childress-Evans,
viola & backing vocals

Recently retired as the Director of Visual and Performing Arts for the San Diego Unified School District, Karen is a Washington state native with a BA in music (viola emphasis), a BA in Education, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She has taught music in public schools for over 40 years and has performed in numerous symphonies and ensembles in Washington, Oregon, and California, including La Jolla, SDSU, and Grossmont College Symphonies. She currently volunteers as Artistic Director for Grossmont High School Orchestras and performs viola and vocals with her husband in the duo Sentimental Journey. Not a back burner type, Karen jumps right in with both feet and keeps smiling. A refreshing and innovative team player, she brings achingly beautiful tones and a classic sensibility to Enter the Blue Sky, and is thrilled to be a member of the band.
