John Seever, harmonica
2/4/51-1/27/18

A native of Miami, Florida, John began playing harmonica at age 19 while at FSU in Tallahassee, Florida. Some years and a few moves later, he began playing with bands in Greensboro, N.C, eventually playing with a blues group in Memphis which played almost every venue on Beale street including BB King's and Blues Hall. He recorded at Sun Studios, Ardent Studios, Young Avenue Sound, and Royal Studios, all in Memphis. After moving to San Diego he played with more vocally oriented, acoustic groups, finally hooking up with Enter the Blue Sky, much to his delight.

After being diagnosed with leukemia in October 2017, John underwent chemo and a stem cell transplant at Scripps Green in La Jolla. His stay at the "resort"—as he called it—was a short four months, with the last two becoming increasingly difficult. When he was informed there was nothing left they could do for him, he shrugged his shoulders, laid back, and let go. He quietly passed away, leaving this life as he had lived it: on his own terms.

He is deeply missed.
